Ready or Not

So I no longer have a choice. It's time to potty train.

I was peeing when I suddenly, like always, got a visitor. Madelyn wanted to pee too. I normally humor her and let her sit on her potty for a few minutes, but I have so much cleaning to do today that I just wanted to go. She must have known how much I have to do because she was very insistent that I put her on that potty. I kept trying to distract her til I gave in. I put her on the potty and left to continue cleaning when suddenly she comes running out of the bathroom, "Ma Ma, poo poo!" Her onesie was soaked and in the little potty was pee pee! She was so proud of herself and a few minutes later, peed again!

Go Maddy! Now it's my turn to be persistent. The only problem is I don't remember potty training. What do I do? And the other girls were older when I trained, Maddy is only 16 months old. lol!

Nostalgia

watching this reminded me of the kids and I.

Story Time in Amenia

We braved the cold today and headed to our library. Our town doesn't have much, but it does have a library and most importantly it's close enough to walk to, about a 12 minute walk. Not bad. However, Apani has gotten in the habit of driving everywhere so I heard a lot about her tired legs. Only 3 months ago she could walk 2+ miles, happily.

Driving by the library last week, I noticed a sign on the lawn, Story Time is Tuesdays, 10-11:30, (long, right?). Apani has Tuesdays off, good planning on my part! So, all week we've been anticipating this trip, weather was not going to get in our way, though I did want to turn back around as soon as we left.

It was fun! They had different tables set up with play-doh, arts and crafts (we made lambs), and a blanket laid out with all sorts of toys. After play time, we had a snack, fresh baked banana bread and juice boxes! Then we read a story and sang a song with instruments.

Apani was timid, but I'm excited. It turns out Thursdays, Apani's other day off, is the Preschool story time! I've been dying to get out of the house to meet people and do things, I'm so glad this is close! And free things are always a plus! So until the weather gets warmer, we have a place to go when Apani is home and I'm going insane with the noise and trying to entertain her and the baby. The walk back is a killer though. It's all uphill and a steep incline. I'm so out of shape, I was wheezing by the time we got home. Now I know I"ll lose that baby weight!

I met some really nice moms. Several of them come from CT. It looks like there isn't much in the area so I'm glad of all the local libraries, mine is the one with a story time. I found out that the Audubon isn't far, just past the CT border, not even 20 mins from us and has tons of free things to do.

It's still not Brooklyn, I miss it terribly. The wide range of things to do and my wonderful friends will never compare to life here. But I'm embracing it. As I get out, I learn more. Finding a local young mom's group is definitely making me more optimistic.

Maddy's Tantrum

She is too hilarious! I don't know how I kept from laughing yesterday cuz this video is me cracking up!

How funny is it that mid tantrum, she does just what she's told. Such a good little girl, even when she's mad.

Maddy is talking up a storm!

I'm not ready!

But Maddy apparently is....

She is dying to use the potty and wants to sit on it all the time.
She pulls at her diaper when she pees.
She says poo poo and pee pee.
And loves to pull off toilet paper and drop it in the toilet.

I on the other hand, don't have the energy for it! I'm so tired. Really, beyond tired. All I want to do is lay in bed and sleep all day, regardless of the amount of sleep I've gotten. Not to mention how much time we spend in the car! We are always driving and always on errands. For the most part, if we need anything, other than groceries, we have to head out to Poughkeepsie. How am I gonna potty train if we're always on the go??

Though the thought of ridding myself of diapers is quite appealing :)

Grandma's Presents

finally came!

I want one...they're awesome. I was skeptic when she told me what she bought, but they work surprisingly well.

Giddy-up

I've been neglecting my blog. Lately, I've just been tremendously tired. All I want to do is lay in bed and try to sleep.

Here's a video to hold you over til I get our blogs about the Christmas festivities up.
